DC awards handloom weavers

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: To encourage innovation and excellence in the craft, the state’s Department of Cooperation, Marketing and Textiles has conducted a regional-level handloom cloth competition 2024-25 for the handloom textile weavers at Devgiri Nagari Sahakari Bank Limited Training Centre (in Bhu-Vikas Bank) Building in Kranti Chowk.

The divisional commissioner Dilip Gawade presided over the prize distribution function. The deputy commissioner (textiles) Prashant Sadafule made an introductory speech on the occasion.

The competition was participated by 13 weavers. Of which, Ifra Anjum secured first position (cash prize of Rs 25,000), Shabana Begum Faheem Ahmed got second position (cash prize of Rs 20,000), and Himroo’s Imran Ahmed Qureshi was in third position (cash prize of Rs Rs 15,000).

The selection committee comprised of District Information Officer, Assistant Director of Weaving Service Centre (Mumbai) Ashutosh Joshi, head of the department at Government College of Engineering Yogesh Sathe, stated the press release.
