Debt-ridden youth commits suicide

Aurangabad, May 17:

A youth was unemployed due to the lockdown imposed last year due to the Corona pandemic and he could not pay the bank housing loan installments. This year also lockdown was imposed and the youth was worried about the installments. In a depressed state, the debt-ridden youth committed suicide by hanging himself at Kritinagar in Harsul area. The incident came to the fore on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Bandu Wagh (31). Police said, Wagh worked as a salesman in an electronic gadget shop in the city. He had taken loan from a finance company last year and constructed a house at Kirtinagar. Last year, he was unemployed due to the lockdown imposed due to the Corona pandemic and could not pay the loan installments. However, the pandemic did not ceased and continued even this year due to which he could not repay the loan again. He was in depression due to the outstanding loan amount and was under stress.

On Sunday night, his wife, five years old daughter and one year old son was sleeping and he went to another room and hanged himself on the ceiling fan with a rope. His wife in the morning saw him hanging at around 5 am. She shouted for help and the near-by residents rushed to the spot. He was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in an unconscious condition where the doctors declared him dead after examination. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Harsul police station while constable D R Jarare is further investigating the case.
