With Diwali just a few days away, stylized diyas to sky lanterns, from jhalars to colourful bulbs, goods are flying off the shelves of stores in the city. The crowd in markets is growing every day.

The festival of Diwali will be celebrated in a spirit of excitement, joy and radiance. Citizens purchase a wide variety of items, including sky lanterns and decorative lights to light outside the house. Hence traders have brought a wide variety of designer diyas to multi-coloured bulbs, from jhalars to LED strips and also the traditional earthen lamps. The wide variety of sky lanterns are attracting the attention of the customers. Sky lanterns made of embedded stones, jute, cardboard are in special demand. This year, traders have boycotted Chinese goods. Hence nearly 90 per cent of goods sold in the market are made in India. Attractive and relatively inexpensive, the lanterns are in high demand. This year, sky lanterns from Hyderabad, Surat and Ahmedabad are becoming popular among consumers. This year, we have also brought LED multi-coloured bulbs, and designer Diyas that are attracting more attention said seller Amit Memane.

Different types of sky lanterns in the market

Every year citizens get to see something different for Diwali. In the early days, sky lanterns made of paper were being sold. But over the last few years, this has changed and now sky lanterns made from stone, cloth, jute, plastic, cardboard, silk, woollen and paper are available in the market for Rs 100 to Rs 1,200. Sky lanterns, especially from cloth and embedded with colourful stones, are attracting consumers.
