Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a remarkable humanitarian initiative, a destitute prisoner released from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Central Jail after completing his sentence has been successfully rehabilitated through the joint efforts of prison authorities and social workers.

Satish Gadewar (Prisoner No. 8450) had no family or relatives to support him after his release, raising concerns about his future. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, social workers Mahadev Dongre and Dadasaheb Lahane, under the Prisoner Welfare and Rehabilitation Project run jointly by the Prison Department and TISS Mumbai, coordinated with Krupalu Old Age Home for his permanent rehabilitation. The prison administration also extended full support in completing the legal process, while Samata Foundation helped pay his pending Rs 500 fine. Gadewar has now been shifted to Krupalu Old Age Home, where he will receive shelter, care and a dignified life.
