Donating blood achieves both self interest and selflessness

Aurangabad, July 2:

One blood donation saves three lives. New blood is produced in the body within 24 hours after donation. I am 49 years old. I have been donating blood since I was 19 years old. Blood donation at Lokmat blood donation camp was the 115th blood donation of my life. I donate blood every three months. Go to donate blood in an emergency.

I was studying in the second year of agricultural engineering at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University, Akola. I was 19 then. While chatting outside the college, I saw a man panicking on the street. When quizzed, he told me that his wife was pregnant and hospitalized. She needed blood, her husband was going from one blood bank to another in search of blood. It was then that I first thought of donating blood. The doctors at the hospital convinced me of the importance of donating blood and since then I have been donating blood regularly. We stayed in Akola, Nagpur, Amravati, Ahmednagar, Shrirampur, Aurangabad, Jalna for work. But I did not give up. I donate blood every three months. After donating blood, your blood will help to save someone's life. On behalf of the central government, I received the award for outstanding work in GST at Nagpur on Thursday. I also wanted to donate blood in Lokmat blood donation camp. I had a strong desire to donate blood. Hence I immediately came to Aurangabad and donated blood today. Lokmat has done a great job by holding blood donation camps across the state. Everyone should donate blood, every three months, donating blood keeps one's body healthy, and new blood is produced. Donate blood without any misunderstanding, save the life of another, this is the message I am giving to the people while donating blood for the 115th time today.
