Drunk man assaults traffic police at High Court Signal

A drunk man abused and assaulted traffic police personnel at the High Court Signal on Jalna Road on Sunday afternoon at 4.30 pm.
The accused has been identified as Somnath Giri (27) and his wife Anita Giri (25), residents of Galli No. 1, Vijaynagar, originally from Chandanagar, dist. Ahilyanagar, have been booked at the Pundaliknagar police station, confirmed police inspector Ashok Bhandare. According to constable Raosaheb Pachalore's complaint, Somnath was stopped near the divider on two-wheeler (MH-17-CQ-6742) and found to be drunk. He began abusing officers, threatened "I will deal with you in two days," and raised his hand at constable Santosh Kharat. He then called his wife, and together they abused, pushed officers, and slapped the complainant. Somnath then lay down in the middle of the road, causing a major traffic obstruction. Police called for assistance from the Damini squad. Despite passersby attempting to pacify the couple, they refused to cooperate. Both were taken into custody and a case registered against them at Pundaliknagar Police Station.
