The Satara police on directives of the commissioner of police have booked 11 persons for encroaching a farm land at Itkheda and demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the owner. The incident occurred on March 15. The accused have been identified as Tukaram Raghunath Gavale, Madhukar Laxman Gavale, Barku Natha Gavale, Bharat Dhondiram Gaikwad, Kaduba Keshav Jangale, Daulat Gopinath Jangale, Krushna Kachru Gaikwad, Manohar Laxman Gavale, Umesh Raosaheb Gavale, Praveen Punjaram Gavale (all Itkheda).

Complainant Rajeshprakash Nathuram Sharma (66, Bansilalnagar) in his complaint mentioned that the accused on March 15, destroyed the iron fencing of his farm at Itkheda. When he came to know about he along with one other person went on the spot. The accused then threatened him and demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom to leave the farm.
