Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A 20-year-old youth hailing from Madhya Pradesh ended his life by hanging to a tree at Nillod (in Sillod tehsil) on Wednesday at 6 am. The reason behind taking the extreme step has not been ascertained. The name of the deceased is Umesh Poonamsingh Barela.

Police said, “ Many farm labourers from Madhya Pradesh had shifted their base to Nillod and the surrounding areas for Ginger cultivation. These labourers stay in the huts built at the farms. On February 11, the youth had dinner and went to sleep. On Wednesday morning he woke up and stepped out of his hut. Later, the villagers spotted him hanging to a ‘ber’ tree in the village. They alerted the police patil Kanchan Khatal, who then informed the Wadod Bazar police. Umesh was rushed to a sub-district hospital at Sillod, but the doctors declared him dead after examination. Police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is on.
