Aurangabad, Oct 24:

The drugs inspector of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) claimed that a gunny bag found lying abandoned today near a nullah in Cidco N-6 sector contained expiry date medicines.

The road near Mata Mandir Chowk witnesses traffic 24x7. One activist, Manish Narwade, spotted a plastic gunny bag filled with some materials this morning. In witness of some people, Narwade opened the bag and found old notebooks, one old damaged photo and stock of medicines in it. It includes IV sets, injections etc. The FDA office was alerted about the incident.

The assistant commissioner (FDA) R M Bajaj visited the spot for inspection. He found expiry medicines. There was also mention upon the medicines that they are not for sale. Later on, the people called the AMC''s vehicle carrying bio-medical waste in the afternoon and sanitary staff to dispose of it scientifically.

Bajaj said, "The Medical Representative would have thrown the expired medicines. He would have left the medicines waste in the rented property before leaving, or he would have thrown himself before vacating the house. The landlord would have thrown it. We will serve notice to pharma companies in this regard."
