A 45-year-old finance businessman died by suicide after jumping from the 5th floor of his office near Sutgirni Chowk around 2.30 am on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Sumesh Mahajan, a resident of Sharadashram Colony. On Sunday, he had lunch at home and returned to work. He usually came home by 10 pm, but when he didn’t return even by midnight, the family began searching. Around 1 am, they found him critically injured outside his office. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

On Monday, PI Krishna Shinde and constable Dadarao Rathod visited the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the suicide.

Last call to daughter

Sumesh spoke to his daughter around 9 pm. Later, when his wife couldn’t reach him at 11 pm, the family rushed to his office. His car was found parked outside, while his phone and keys were inside. A suicide note addressed to his daughter was recovered. His wife is a teacher. The family includes two daughters and his mother.

Message for His Daughter

The note began with a Ganpati mantra and was dated. It read:

“You are my beloved daughter. Please try to understand my decision. I’m tired of facing constant struggles. Beta, move ahead with confidence. Study well and become an officer—that’s my last wish. Take care of your mother. We’ll meet again soon. Thank you.”
