Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A fire broke out at a food shop located near the police outpost in Shivajinagar on Sunday morning between 7:30 am and 7:45 am due to a short circuit. All items inside the shop were completely gutted in the blaze. The preliminary estimate of the loss is around Rs 3 to Rs 4 lakh.

Locals noticed smoke emerging from the shop and immediately realised that a fire had broken out. Residents promptly disconnected the electricity supply to the building. As it was a scheduled water supply day in the area, citizens quickly used pipes to douse the flames and attempted to bring the fire under control. Soon after, the fire brigade arrived at the spot and successfully controlled the fire, preventing a major disaster.

Materials used for preparing Vada Pav, the ceiling, and other furniture in the shop were completely destroyed. However, five refrigerators, two commercial gas cylinders, and drums of oil remained safe, preventing the fire from spreading further. Otherwise, the adjacent cloth shop could also have been affected. Since residential flats are located on the upper floors of the building, a major accident was averted. The alertness of the citizens helped prevent the fire from escalating.
