House break-ins, shop theft and street robbery continue in city

A surge in thefts across the city has triggered concern, with four cases registered on May 2 at different police stations, highlighting the growing audacity of petty criminals.
Rishikesh Sutar (21, Shikshak Colony) behind Cambridge School, reported that thieves broke into his house between 1 pm and 3 pm on May 1 and stole 4-gram gold earrings, 4-gram gold ornaments and Rs 1.34 lakh in cash, totalling Rs 1.78 lakh. MIDC Cidco police have registered a case. In another incident, Darshan Tolwani (48, Sindhi Colony) stated that his shop, Darshan Hardware and Tools at Mondha Square, was burgled on Friday midnight after the accused broke through the rear wall. Welding cables, nuts and bolts, connectors, copper coils, a grinder, a drill machine and other materials worth Rs 75,000 were stolen. Jawaharnagar police have registered the offence.

Theft at elderly woman’s house
Kamalabai Jadhav (65, Rohidaspura, Old Mondha), reported that a thief entered her house by scaling the rear wall around midnight on May 2 while she was asleep and stole her gold chain and Rs 8,000. Jinsi police have registered a case. Separately, Pathan Muzaffar Khan (58) was robbed of his Rs 12,000 mobile phone by three motorcycle-borne youths near Shahanurmiya Dargah Chowk around 12:30 am. Osmanpura police are investigating.
