Aurangabad, Jan 11:

The health of five cubs delivered by tigress Samruddhi on December 25 is fit and fine. They had opened their eyes after 15 days and have started to move in the cage. The zoo will keep an eye on upon them for six weeks, said the director of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) zoo in Siddharth Garden, Dr B S Naikwade.

There were nine tigers in the zoo before the birth of these five cubs. The tiger Siddharth and tigress Samruddhi are the parents of these cubs. They are under observation of an expert animal husbandry officer. A close watch is also kept upon them through CCTV. The AMC had also appointed a caretaker for Samruddhi and her cubs 24x7.

Nobody is allowed to go near the cubs. Even the caretaker has to keep a watch from outside the cage, said Naikwade.
