Gold and silver jewellery shop gutted in fire in Mukundwadi
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
A fire destroyed Sudhir Burhade’s jewellery shop in Mukundwadi’s main market while he was away for a relative’s funeral on Thursday.
The blaze, noticed by locals around 5 pm, burned all jewellery, furniture, and account books, making the exact loss unclear, though several lakhs of gold and silver were destroyed. Burhade had left the shop around 3 pm for the funeral. Fire officials including Chetan Tarole, Sominath Bhosle, Ashok Veldavde, and others brought the fire under control after about an hour.
Cause:
The fire reportedly started near the shop’s DVR after Burhade had recently changed the CCTV setup and wiring. A short circuit is suspected. Some customers’ gold was in the shop for repair, but most destroyed items were silver. With account books and bills lost, the total damage remains undetermined.
