Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The sound of ghungroos echoing through a serene auditorium, graceful expressions, and the vibrant energy of dancers marked the 29th International Dance Day celebration organised by Mahagami Gurukul. The event was held on Wednesday at the Rukmini Auditorium in the MGM campus. Emphasising that dance is not merely physical movement but a living dialogue and philosophy, the programme left the audience deeply captivated. Based on the unique concept of Nritya Vichar Vinimay (exchange of thoughts on dance), the event explored various dimensions of tradition, philosophy, and communication in dance.

The programme began with a welcome address by parent Dr Sarvesh Mahajan, who shared insights about Mahagami Gurukul. This was followed by a devotional presentation of Krishna Namavali, creating a spiritual ambience in the hall. The highlight of the event was the interactive Nritya Vichar Vinimay session, where students asked questions to understand different aspects of dance. Responding to a query on the significance of Vandan in dance presentations, guru Parvati Datta explained that beginning with Vandan is not just a tradition but a meaningful and graceful initiation, elaborating on its origins and philosophy.

Participation of parents and students

Students later performed an engaging performance of Sudesh Pallavi, preceded by an explanation of its concept and style. What made it unique was the interactive format, where students asked questions even during the performance, and guru Parvati Datta responded with detailed explanations and examples, adding a dynamic dimension to the programme. An impressive presentation of Odissi Chauka Nyasa also won appreciation from the audience.

This was followed by a vocal presentation of Vasant Pallavi by parents, with their children joining them on stage. The joint participation of parents and students emerged as a special highlight and received loud applause. The event also featured a distinctive presentation of the special publication Agradeep 2026.
