Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

An accused in the high-profile Adarsh scam, Sunil Mankape, has been granted bail in connection with the Aurangabad Zilla Mahila Adarsh Nagari Sahakari Bank scam. Justice Abhay Waghwase of the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court granted bail with regular terms and conditions on Tuesday.

A total of five cases have been filed against Mankape in various Adarsh group scams, of which he has received bail in four cases. He is still in prison because bail was not granted in one case. With the High Court granting bail, he will be released from prison after one and a half years.

Mankape was working as a manager at the Adarsh Bank. During his tenure, he is accused of taking loans in the names of fake borrowers and diverting the money to his organisations, benefiting from the funds. As he did not receive bail from the sessions court, he filed a regular bail petition through Adv Sambhaji Tope at the Aurangabad Bench. The accused has been in prison for more than a year. Chargesheets have been filed in these cases, and it was noted that no further information needs to be obtained from him. The investigating officers have seized the entire property of the Mankape family, and it was stated that Sunil has no remaining property. Considering all these aspects, the High Court issued the above order. Adv Tope and Sarthak Mane presented the case on behalf of the accused.
