Health machinery prepared to tackle possible Delta plus variant

Aurangabad, June 26:

The second Corona wave is receding rapidly, and the general beds, oxygen beds, and ventilators are available in large quantity now. If the possible Delta Plus variant of the Coronavirus hit the district, the health machinery in the district is all prepared to tackle it, informed the health department sources. The health machinery is facing the Corona crisis for the past one and a half years. The doctors, nurses and the medical staff were working day and night to save the lives of the patients and to restrict the spread of the Corona infection.

The experts now fear that there is a possibility of the third Corona wave. Before the advent of the third wave, the danger of the Delta plus varient of the Coronavirus has emerged before the health machinery. Hence, the health machinery is all prepared to tackle the situation, the sources said. Delta Plus is more contagious and hence spread rapidly than the earlier strains found. Thus, the symptoms of the disease are seen within four to five days of the infection. The earlier adopted treatment system is used for its cure. However, people should take precautions and should use a mask, wash hands and avoid crowds, the experts opined.

Civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni said one floor in the District Civil Hospital (DCH) is empty. Hence, there is no issue of availability of beds now, and nothing is to be worried about it. The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) head of medicine department Dr Meenakshi Bhattacharya informed that treatment on the Delta patients has been conducted here before. Delta Plus is a variant of the Coronavirus, and the patients infected by it will be treated at the Covid ward here, she said. Health deputy director Dr Swapnil Lale said that the number of active Corona patients is very less now. The availability of beds, oxygen and ventilators is adequate. Presently, the spread of Delta is very less and any predictions about the spread cannot be made at this moment, he said.
