The city received heavy rains on Saturday. Strong winds along with thunderstorms continued till late in the night.

Heavy rains lashed half the city while some areas received light drizzle for half the day. Due to the wind, a huge banyan tree on Padegaon road was uprooted and fell on a truck. Tree also fell in Banewadi in the evening. The rains also cut off electricity in many parts of the city. The weather suddenly changed in the afternoon. It started raining around 5.30 pm. The rain subsided in a matter of minutes. However, spells continued till late in the night. It rained heavily near All India Radio, Jawahar Colony, Beed Bypass, Shivajinagar, Cidco and other places. Power supply was disrupted in Jawahar Colony, Uttamnagar, Deolai Chowk area, Shivajinagar and other areas. The MGM observatory recorded 0.8 mm of rainfall, while 1.0 mm rainfall was recorded at Gandheli. Winds blew at 21 km per hour in the city, while at 42 km per hour in Gandheli, informed meteorologist Srinivas Aundhkar.
