Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Jiteshkumar Hinhoriya, a native of Gujarat, is the mastermind behind the concept of the multi-billion-rupees drug manufacturing companies.

Although his partner Sandeep Kamawat's family is settled in the city, his hometown is also in Rajasthan, and a large number of his friends and relatives stay in the border area. The two developed closeness in dumping of drugs collected from different parts of the country.

According to sources, “In the last three years, drugs worth more than Rs 10,000 crore have been confiscated. This panicked the mafia who then extended their network in other states and started manufacturing narcotic drugs in factories. The case of Hinhoriya is also a part of it.”

On Friday, the Gujarat’s Crime Branch and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI, Ahmedabad Zone) detained Hinhoriya and Kamawat in a drug manufacturing case. They seized a quantity of 44 kgs of drugs worth Rs 250 crore and also found raw material valuing Rs 250 crore in the factory. While the investigation by DRI to find a lead was underway and to detect the chain of persons involved in the racket, Hinhoriya tried to harm himself by cutting throat and nerve with the help of bathroom glass. As a result, the dreams of the squad got shattered. Meanwhile, Hinhoriya has given the statement to the squad, therefore, the possibility of taking action on its basis has increased.

Drug network in Gujarat

- Gujarat police have arrested 102 peddlers by seizing drugs of valuing Rs 5,000 crore between August 2021 and February 2023. The heroine and other drugs were being dumped in the areas close to the border areas.

- 80 packets of cocaine of valuing Rs 800 crore in the international market were seized from Kutch district in September 2023.

- Gujarat connection has been proved in the seizure of 257.645 kg of Hashish like drug in August.

- In August 2022, Mumbai police had confiscated 513 kgs of MD drugs by raiding a factory in Bharuch (Gujarat).

- In December 2022, 143 kg of Mephedrone of valuing Rs 78 crore was seized from Vadodara area.

- Heroine of valuing Rs 313.25 crore was confiscated in Dwarka in November 2021.

Both of them used their own network

Hinhoriya and Kamawat benefited a lot in the operation of the drug racket due to their Gujarat and Rajasthan connections. In border areas of both the states, the consignment of drugs was sent by packing into small packets.

It may be noted that after an increase in the action in Gujarat, such types of factories were shifted to other states. They have been unearthed in the state recently. As a modus operandi, they would collect and dump the drugs manufactured from different parts of the country and then dispatch it to Mumbai and other parts of the state. Hence both of them avoided selling the drugs in local retail.

Hinhoriya company’s advisor

The chemical company of Waluj has denied its relation with Hinhoriya since day one. However, as per the papers handed over by the DRI officers to the local police, Hinhoriya was working as a chemical advisor in the above company. He was manufacturing MD drugs and Mephedrone. Meanwhile, all eyes are set on what action the DRI initiates against the chemical company.
