Five persons, including the husband, have been booked by MIDC Waluj Police for subjecting a married woman to mental and physical harassment in the Wadgaon Kolhati area.

According to police, the victim Pallavi Kharat (28) alleged that between 2016 and 2021, her husband Bhimrao Kharat, mother-in-law Shalini, brother-in-law Sanghapal, and relatives Milind and Vandana Kharat repeatedly abused and assaulted her. She was harassed over insufficient wedding gifts, beaten by her husband in a drunken state, and taunted for giving birth to a daughter. Her in-laws also pressured her to bring Rs 3.30 lakh from her parents for a house in Nagpur, and when she failed to do so, she and her young daughter were thrown out of the house at night. Further investigation is underway.
