Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A severe traffic jam was reported on Thursday between 8.30 am and 9 am after a heavy goods vehicle (Hyva) got stuck in the Shivajinagar subway, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

The Hyva (MH 20 CT 7374), travelling from Shivajinagar towards Deolai, became trapped in an iron frame near Deolai Chowk. This led to long queues of vehicles stretching up to Shivajinagar, bringing traffic to a complete standstill for some time. As it was peak morning hours, students, milk vendors, and daily wage workers were all left stranded.

Warning issued just two days earlier

Only two days prior, the concerned department had inspected the subway and recommended a ban on heavy vehicles. Instructions were also given to install iron rods indicating height restrictions. However, these measures have not yet been implemented.

Tyres deflated to free vehicle

To remove the stuck vehicle, air was let out of its tyres, after which it was slowly moved forward. Once the Hyva was cleared, the traffic congestion eased. Locals and motorists have once again demanded a permanent solution to prevent such incidents in the future.
