Chhatrapti Sambhajinagar:
An agitation has been announced over the growing water scarcity in the Cidco–Waluj Mahanagar area, with signs that it may intensify. Panchayat Samiti group leader and uddhav sena deputy city chief Dattatray Warpe has issued a direct warning to the MIDC administration, stating that he will begin an indefinite hunger strike from May 11.
In this regard, Warpe has submitted a detailed memorandum to the executive engineer of MIDC. The memorandum states that around 60,000 to 65,000 residents in the Cidco area are facing severe hardship due to inadequate water supply. A demand has been made for an additional 12 million litres of water to ensure regular and sufficient supply. Earlier, a memorandum on the issue was also submitted to the administration on April 16; however, no concrete action has been taken, leading to allegations of neglect by the authorities.
As a result, Warpe has warned that the MIDC administration will be fully responsible for any situation arising during the indefinite hunger strike, which will commence from May 11 in front of the MIDC railway station office. Meanwhile, thousands of residents are closely watching what stance the administration will take on the issue.
Panchayat Samiti members Satish Hivale, Deepak Kanade, Dattu Kothale, Keshavrao Deshpande, Mubeen Shaikh and Dnyaneshwar Phulare were present on the occasion.
