India needs to develop eco-friendly model like Israel: Dr Dinesh K Aswal

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Israel, a drought-prone country, has set an example for the world by developing a sustainable development model in agriculture and allied industries. India, which is rich in biodiversity, also needs to develop a similar eco-friendly model,” Dr Dinesh Kumar Aswal, a senior scientist and member of the National Disaster Management Authority.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three international conferences on 'Innovation in Materials Science for a Sustainable Future', being organised at the main auditorium by the Department of Physics of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari. Dr Ri-ichi Murakami (Japan), Dr Meng Lin Tsai (Taiwan), Head of Department Dr Pravina Ugile, and Secretary Dr Prabhakar Undare were prominently present.

Initially, Dr Mahendra Shirsath and his wife were felicitated with a citation on his retirement.

Dr D K Aswal said that India faces problems of heat and water scarcity during the summer. “During the monsoon season, the region faces heavy rainfall and natural calamities. Similarly, snowfall occurs in winter. Considering all these factors, it is essential for researchers and scientists to conduct fundamental and applied research,” he said.

VBC Dr Vijay Fulari also spoke. S S Husaini and Dr Rupali Kulkarni conducted the proceedings. Arvind Dhabe read the citation and Dr B. N. Dole proposed the vote of thanks. Pro-VC ce-Chancellor Dr Walmik Sarwade, Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, Dr Subhash Behere, Dr Suresh Mehrotra and others were present.
