Jawaharnagar police station has registered a fraud case against the branch manager of Bhansali Value Creation and another woman for allegedly cheating an investor of Rs 20.50 lakh on the pretext of returning excess investment funds.

The accused have been identified as Ashiq Ansari, branch manager of the company’s Kharadi branch in Pune, and Ruby Ahmed of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Police said complainant Sanjog Tejkumar Kala, a resident of Arihantnagar, invested Rs 46.37 lakh in the company between 2022 and 2023 after being promised attractive returns. After Rs 47.56 lakh was credited to his account, Ansari allegedly contacted him claiming some amount had been mistakenly transferred and asked him to return the money to different bank accounts. Trusting the manager, Kala transferred Rs 20.50 lakh in phases during March and April 2023. Later, after recovering from a serious accident, he tried contacting the accused but found their phones switched off. On approaching the company’s head office, he was informed that the company had already settled his dues and that the transactions with the manager were personal dealings. Realising he had been cheated, Kala lodged a complaint with Jawaharnagar police station.
