The health administration has observed that their plan to prevent the spread of Coronavirus is being foiled by the 'irresponsible' youths in the city. In spite of lockdown in the city, these youths are found roaming on the roads unnecessarily during the whole day and adding to the woes; without taking any protective measures, they return to their homes and get mixed with their families. This is the reason why the senior citizens and children are getting infected by Coronavirus.
There is a weekend lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays. Instead of sitting indoors, the youths move around in the city without wearing face masks. They cite various reasons when the AMC squad or cops held them, during the day time or night hours. The health administration has come across few cases (in Satara, Cidco N-4 localities) where the youths were detected as Covid-19 positives and were regularly spending their time outside during the whole day etc.
Wash your hands with hot water
After returning home from outside, the youths should first clean up their hands and legs with hot water. They should sanitise themselves or, if possible, take a bath. Besides, they should immediately wash their clothes in hot water. Above all, the youths should neither directly go to meet the elders in their houses nor play or be with kids and small children. Each citizen should wear a mask while stepping out of their homes. It may be noted that there are 67,936 Covid-19 patients had been detected so far. The figure includes 1,065 patients of age less than 16 years and 19,749 patients of age more than 50 years, it is learnt.
The municipal officer of health (MoH), Dr Neeta Padalkar, said, " The senior citizens suffer from various ailments. Hence their immunity is very low. The immunity amongst children is also less. Hence the members of the house, if they are going outside or returning from outside, should take proper measures. They should not straightaway go to meet the elders or children in the family."
