Aurangabad, April 27

The Jalna district adjoining Aurangabad continued witnessing a surge in coronavirus infections with 879 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Jalna district civil surgeon Dr Archana Bhosale said in the same time span 860 patients recovered from the virus and discharged from various care centres and hospitals, 13 patients lost their battle for life.

As far as Jalna city is concerned, 140 Covid-19 positive cases surfaced here. Ambad tehsil reported 180 positive cases, followed by Bhokardan (136), Partur (87), Mantha (84), Ghansawangi (68), Jafrabad (49) and Badnapur (44).

So far, the district has registered 44,312 Covid-19 patients, while 37,089 of them recovered and were discharged from various hospitals and 718 died from the virus. A total of 522 patiens died in government hospitals and 196 in private hospitals.

The civil surgeon said the recovery rate of the district stands at 83.70 and that of deaths at 1.62 per cent. Presently, 6,506 patients are undergoing treatment across the district.
