Aurangabad, Oct 29:

Thieves broke into a house of an ex-serviceman at Gulmohar Colony, Padegaon and made off with 35 tolas gold worth Rs 17.5 lakh and Rs 2000 cash.

Ex-serviceman, Suryakant Sheku Jadhav (57) took his wife and daughter to a wedding ceremony on Thursday at around 11.30 am. He left them there and then went to the Soilders’ welfare office. Two person with a courier boy bag and wearing masks came at Gulmohar Colony. One soildier here inquired about them. They told that they have come to deliver a courier. The soldier ignored them and went away. Later, one of them entered in Jadhav’s house and one was standing outside. He entered into the house by breaking the lock and took gold jewellery weighing 35 tolas and Rs 2000 cash from the bedroom''s cupboard. Jadhav returned home with family at around 4.30 pm and noticed about the theft. He immediately informed about it to the Cantonment police. Crime Brach API Manoj Shinde PSI Shaikh, havaldar Prakash Chavan, Raju Solunke, Nitin Deshmukh and others rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene.

Jadhav’s elder married daughter lives at Railway Station area. She had given her jewelry to Jadhav to keep it safely due to the increased theft incidents in the city. Similarly, he had purchased some jewelry for his younger daughters marriage and kept it in the cupboard.
