Students audit to be conducted in 1,819 schools today
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: School Education Department will conduct the students audit at 1,819 schools in district on April 15 in the second phase.
It may be noted that the Education Department has decided to conduct enrollment verification on the day of the Periodic Assessment Test (PAT) examination being held by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), based on the number of students present for the examination.
The district has 4,507 schools which included local self-government bodies, private aided, partially aided, unaided, and self-financed English medium schools. Accordingly, 964 schools in the district were verified on April 11 in the first phase while in the second phase, verification of 1,819 schools would be carried on Wednesday. The final phase on April 22 will cover 1,535 schools. The first day of the drive faced several difficulties.
All these schools will undergo enrollment verification, covering over 8 lakh students. Schools receiving grants are known to resort to various fraudulent methods to maintain their enrollment figures. For the first time, the Education Department has therefore used the PAT examination as the basis for verification.
After completing the verification, teams are required to register online on the Saral Student Portal.
The Department has issued directives that a report be submitted about schools that do not cooperate with the verification process or remain closed.
