In a tragic and sensational incident, a leopard attacked and killed a 10-year-old boy in front of his mother and grandmother at Kinhi in Ashti tehsil of Beed district on Friday at 12.30 pm.

According to reports, Swaraj Sunil Bhapkar, a resident of Bhapkarwadi in Shrigonda tehsil of Ahmednagar district, had come to Kinhi in Ashti tehsil to his grandmother’s home along with his mother for celebrating Diwali.

On Friday at 12.30 pm, the boy was playing on the verandah where his mother and grandmother were present. Suddenly, a leopard attacked the boy and bit his throat. The beast caught the boy in its jaws and fled from the spot. His mother cried for help. In the meantime, the people of the nearby areas rushed to the spot. The leopard abandoned the body of the boy in a farm land about half km away from the home. As reported earlier, a 40-year-old man Nagnath Garje, resident of Surdi in Ashti tehsil, was killed by a leopard on November 23 at 6 pm when he was watering his tur crop. After the incident, the employees of the forest department and police rushed to the spot. There is a panic among the residents of Ashti tehsil. According to reports, the leopard has been sighted in Gevrai tehsil too.
