Aurangabad, Oct 12:

The crime branch police arrested the hardcore criminal at Kamlapur road on Sunday who hit a railway gangman Vijay Nitnavare with an iron rod on head and snatched his gold pendant and Rs 5,000.

The arrested has been identified as Amol Vaijinath Galate (Santoshimatanagar). On October 9, Vijay Nitnavare was inspecting the railway tracks between Sangramnagar to Shivajinagar at around 7.30 am.

Amol went near him and walked with him to some distance. Later, Amol hit Nitnavare with an iron rod on head. The gangman fell and Amol snatched gold pendent and Rs 5,000 from Nitnavare. A case was registered in this regard at the Jawaharnagar police station. On Sunday, the crime branch police received information that Amol was going to Kamlapur Road to meet his mother. Accordingly, API Manoj Shinde, Santosh Sonawane, Chandrakant Gawali, Dnyaneshwar Pawar, Anand Wahul, and others laid a trap and arrested Amol on Sunday night. During interrogation, he confessed that he has committed the crime and told the police that he has spent the stolen amount and also the gold pendant for Rs 9,000.

Amol is a hardcore criminal and around 25 cases have been registered against him. The police, while searching his house, seized four mobile phones. He also confessed that he had broken a house in the Harsul area.

Meanwhile, police have also arrested Praneet Jewellers, Praneet Jojare (23), for buying gold from Amol.
