Aurangabad, April 22:

The Harsul police have booked a man for attempting to set his wife ablaze asking her to bring Rs 5 lakh from her parents. The accused has been identified as Dinesh Digambar Pardeshi (37, Auditor Housing Society, Harsul).

According to the details, the accused met an accident in January and was handicapped by one leg. He frequently demanded his wife to bring Rs 5 lakh from her parents for his treatment. However, her parents were not able to fulfill his demand. Hence, on April 18, he tried to set his wife ablaze by pouring petrol on her. She sustained minor burns in the incident and was admitted in a private hospital. The couple has a nine years old son.
