A major fire broke out on an open plot in the Khokadpura Road area around noon on Thursday, sending thick plumes of smoke visible up to Jalna Road. Dry grass, trees and garbage on the vacant land intensified the blaze, causing panic in the area.

The fire spread rapidly under the scorching afternoon heat, drawing the attention of motorists and pedestrians passing through Jalna Road. A crowd of onlookers gathered at the spot, leading to temporary traffic disruption in the area.

Fire brigade reaches after delay

Eyewitnesses claimed that no fire brigade vehicle reached the spot for nearly half an hour after the fire broke out. The fire tender arrived only after the plot owner personally contacted the fire department. After nearly an hour of efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed. However, the plot owner suspected that someone may have thrown a lit cigarette into the premises, triggering the fire.
