Chhatrapati Sambahjinagar: Maulana Azad College received this year's national level ‘Green Champion’ award for excellence in environmental protection and sustainable development from APEX-SDG, a registered agency under the union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

The firm chose 31 colleges from around the nation to get this award on the initiatives taken by them. Maulana Azad College in the state was selected for the ‘District Green Champion’ award.

Earlier, the Government of India also conferred the same honour to the College last year in 2022 as well. Dr Ashfaque Khan, the coordinator of this campaign and his fellow volunteers encouraged students and staff to practice environment-friendly activities. Volunteers encouraged the use of steel bottles instead of old leaching plastic bottles in and outside the campus, the ‘Each One Reach One’ campaign was successfully carried out under 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' at Rasoolpoora village. Farhat Jamal (President of the Society) congratulated Principal Dr Mazhar and staff members for this achievement.
