Students of MGM University held a programme recently supporting freedom of expression amid controversy over Govind Pansare’s book “Shivaji Kon Hota” and alleged threats by MLA Sanjay Gaikwad to the publisher. Students said ideas must be countered with ideas, stressing rational dialogue over threats. Principal Rekha Shelke and other faculty members urged informed opinions through reading. Student Vitthal Nirmal called for constructive disagreement. The event ended with a public reading of the book and free distribution of copies.
