The MIDC will work in coordination with the industrial associations, entrepreneurs and Gram Panchayats to resolve all the pending issues prevailing in the Waluj and other industrial areas in the city. "Appropriate measures will be taken on these issues so that industries do not face losses in future" said, MIDC regional officer Rajesh Joshi, in a meeting held with the industrial associations here on Wednesday.

In the meeting, the association members informed about the damage caused to the industries by rainwater and the main reasons behind it. The members stated that the encroachment on the nallas passing through the industries at Waluj and Chikalthana has obstructed the natural flow of the nallas. Lack of repair and cleaning of storm drains, and dumping of solid waste has caused the nullah to close.

Similarly, construction activities, reduction of plinth level of industrial buildings due to dumping on roads, and illegal settlements in the jurisdiction of the gram panchayats are the main reasons for the waterlogging. The members also pointed out the dilapidated condition of the roads in the area. They demanded that the areas in which water is not drained as well as the nallas should be repaired and cleaned regularly, mainly before the monsoon.

CMIA vice president, Shiv Prasad Jaju, secretary Satish Lonikar, CII president Mukund Kulkarni, vice president, Raman Ajgaonkar, MIDC engineer S Sutrave, as well as officials and representatives of various industries in Waluj industrial area were present.

MIDC, industrial associations to work together

The MIDC regional officer Rajesh Joshi and executive engineer B B Harshe assured that the works of replacement of drainage pipes, nalla cleaning and removing of encroachments would be taken up in coordination with the industries through the associations.

The members also stated that the Gram Panchayats, MLAs and Zilla Parishad CEO should also cooperate to sort out the pending issues.
