Aurangabad, April 30:

Gangapur MLA Prashant Bamb has set up a well-equipped Covid hospital with 102 beds at Lasur. The hospital was virtually inaugurated on Friday by the leader of the opposition in the state assembly Devendra Fadnavis.

Each bed has an oxygen supply and a ventilator facility. The project of generating oxygen from the air has also been started. Free treatment will be provided for everyone. This is the first covid hospital in Marathwada started by a public representative. Citizens in rural areas do not have health insurance like in cities, so there is a big problem with treatment expenses. With this in mind, it was decided to set up a well-equipped covid hospital at Lasur, said Bamb. The hospital is housed in a three-storey Jain marriage hall building. There are 22 ICU beds on the first floor for critically ill patients. There are 38 beds on the second floor for mild patients and 42 beds on the third floor for general patients. Each bed has an NIV BiPAP machine connection. There are 5 ventilators for critically ill patients. Dr Ranjit Gaikwad is the managing director of the hospital. In all, 14 doctors are appointed. An Airox machine plant has been started adjacent to the hospital to generate oxygen from the air. In all, 150 cylinders filled with oxygen have been kept ready.

There are generators and inverters for uninterrupted power supply. Morning-evening tea, snacks and meals with treatment will be provided by the hospital. The hospital cost Rs 1.5 crore. However, it was not funded from the MLA funds but with the help of well-wishers and philanthropists. It is planned to run this hospital for 3 months. MP Dr Bhagwat Karad was present.
