Mock drill conducted ahead of President of India’s visit
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to travel to Shegaon via the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport on February 25 for a planned government programme. Against this backdrop, the district administration conducted a ‘mock drill’ at the airport on Monday.
The RTO officials, however, turned a blind eye to the drill process. As per presidential protocol, the presence of all heads of departments was mandatory on Monday morning to inspect security arrangements, vehicle convoys, and other technical aspects. While the RTO department was responsible for planning and checking the fitness of the convoy vehicles, the responsible officers from this department did not participate in the drill.
District Collector Deelip Swami expressed his displeasure, saying that such negligence is unacceptable during the visit of a VVIP. Complete arrangements have been made for the President’s visit, and a central security team has also arrived to review the arrangements.
