MRSSM demands release of non-salary grants
Aurangabad, Dec 4:
The education department has not released the non-salary grants for two years despite the court''s orders. Therefore, educational institutions are facing financial difficulties. Hence the Maharashtra Rajya Shikshan Sansthan Mahamandal (MRSSM) has warned the state government to resolve the pending issues of educational institutions or the Mandal will file a contempt petition in the court.
Former union minister and MRSSM president Vijay Naval Patil in a press conference here on Friday said that the English schools have been hit hard due to stalled remuneration for RTE admission for two and a half years. Many teachers working on a temporary basis are deprived of their salaries. Around 1, 628 schools are yet to get the non-salary grants. Moreover many schools are still non-aided. Since the state government does not approve the posts of non-teaching staff, teachers have to take responsibility for other school work besides teaching. Before 2005, there were two lakh non-teaching staff. Today there are only 75,000 employees. The government needs to fill these posts and perform a structural audit of dilapidated schools. According to the new policy of the central government, sixth and seventh classes should be added to secondary schools and fifth class should be added with the fourth standard. The government must also stop corruption while giving ID to the school. Patil also appealed to the newly appointed MLCs to take initiative to solve the problems in the educational sector. Our school is our responsibility, the trustees, the headmasters and teachers will run, take care of the students, so parents should not worry about the safety of the school, he added. General secretary S P Jawalkar, Divisional president Milind Patil, Mirza Salim Beg, District president Shivaji Bankar Patil were present.
