Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The newly appointed divisional commissioner, G Sreekanth, said that strong emphasis will be placed on the growth of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar as well as the entire Marathwada region. Over the next three years, the city and areas under the development authority are expected to expand significantly, and efforts will be made to ensure proper planning of this growth. G Sreekanth, the 33rd divisional commissioner of Marathwada, made these remarks while taking charge on Friday from outgoing commissioner Jitendra Papalkar.

Senior officials present on the occasion included district collector Vinay Gowda G C, additional divisional commissioners Khushalsingh Pardeshi, Pratap Kale, Dr. Anant Gavhane, Dadasaheb Wankhede, Sushma Desai, Manjusha Miskar, joint commissioners Rajesh Katkar and Devidas Tekale, assistant commissioner Manjusha Kapse, deputy commissioner Savita Harkar, metropolitan planner Harshal Bawiskar, deputy metropolitan planner Ravindra Jaybhaye, assistant commissioner Shubhangi Andhale, and deputy chief accounts officer Sadhana Bangar, along with regional department heads.

100 pc focus on e-office implementation

Interacting with department heads, Sreekanth reviewed key issues related to agriculture, drought conditions, social concerns, and administrative matters in Marathwada. He called for coordinated efforts to achieve overall development.

He noted that the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division holds cultural, historical, and tourism significance. Along with boosting tourism, emphasis will be laid on education, healthcare, key initiatives, and employment-oriented development.

He also stressed the need to adopt innovative initiatives and increase the use of technology in administration, aiming for 100 per cent implementation of the e-office system. He highlighted that internal coordination within the administration is crucial for effective governance.

Career Journey (2009–2026)

G Sreekanth is a 2009-batch UPSC officer. He completed his probationary training in Parbhani and was first appointed as assistant district collector in Kinwat. Over the years, he has served as municipal commissioner of Nanded-Waghala, Zilla Parishad chief executive officer in Satara, district collector of Akola and Latur, joint commissioner of GST in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and also as municipal commissioner.
