On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, the city witnessed a wave of excitement as residents celebrated the festival by acquiring new possessions and indulging in a sweet feast of Amrakhand.
Golden beginnings:
Families eagerly stepped into automobile showrooms to acquire their dream vehicles and duly blessed their new cars before taking them home. The two-wheeler showroom also experienced a surge in sales, with priests conducting pujas for the vehicles. Distributor Rahul Pagaria reported the sale of 2000 two-wheelers and 500 four-wheelers on this auspicious day.
Electronics extravaganza:
The electronic market thrived, generating a turnover of crores. The demand for large-sized televisions, including 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch screens, was particularly prominent, with 500 units of branded TVs sold in the district. Distributor Pankaj Agarwal noted that various appliances, including televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, mobile phones, laptops, and more, contributed to this impressive turnover. Notably, many residents opted for larger TV screens, and there was even a growing demand for home theater systems.
Smart timepieces:
The entry of smartwatches into the market was met with enthusiasm, providing a boost to watch manufacturers. Smartwatches ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 4000 were in demand, according to Ghulam Haqqani.
Sweet delights:
The citizens consumed 2 tons of Amrakhand. Sweets including Amrakhand and Srikhand are popular throughout the year, with higher sales during Gudipadwa and Dussehra. Producers reported selling 60 percent Amrakhand and 40 percent Srikhand, resulting in a turnover of Rs 6 lakhs.
Gold and silver prices stabilize:
After witnessing an increase in the price of gold by Rs 3,000 per 10 grams and silver by Rs 4,000 per kg over the past 11 days, the precious metal prices stabilized on Dussehra. On this auspicious occasion, gold was traded at Rs 61,900, and silver at Rs 75,500.
City welcomes new showrooms:
The city celebrated the festival by inaugurating new showrooms including medical stores, clothing boutiques, and 50 other showrooms. Additionally, 500 individuals entered their new homes on this special day. Vikas Chaudhary, president of CREDAI, revealed that house bookings have been on the rise since the Navratri festival, indicating a positive trend in the real estate market.
