Notorious ganja dealer arrested with sword in Kanchanwadi

In a major crackdown, Sonusing Deepaksing Bhond (30, resident of Kanchanwadi), who was buying ganja in the Gevrai Tanda area and selling it in Kanchanwadi, was arrested by Satara Police. The police recovered 1.209 kilograms of ganja and a sword from him.

A few days ago, a case of sexual assault on a minor had been registered against Sonusing’s elder brother. While investigating that case, police learned that his younger brother Sonusing was selling ganja in the area while carrying a sword. Acting on the instructions of police inspector (PI) Krishna Shinde, assistant PI Shailesh Deshmukh, PSIs Govind Akilwale, Dilip Bachate, and Nandkumar Bhandare raided his house and apprehended him along with the weapon. Officers Digambar Rathod, Sunil Belkar, Sachin Kale, Suresh Kale, Kalyan Nikam, Vishakha Tupe, and Geeta Dhakne participated in the operation.

Ganja sales revealed through WhatsApp chats

After the arrest, police examined Sonusing’s mobile and found WhatsApp messages showing ganja purchases. During interrogation, he admitted hiding ganja behind his house. The team then recovered 1.209 kilograms of ganja.

Criminal history of family

Sonusing’s father had faced serious criminal cases. His elder brother is also a known criminal, and Sonusing himself has prior cases for theft and ganja sales. Twenty-six years ago, in a police encounter led by then ACP Sadanand Wayse, his father was killed during a shootout with police.
