Number of people getting vaccinated declines

Aurangabad, June 2:

Even though the municipal corporation has a stock of 20,000 vaccines at present, the beneficiaries above 45 years of age do not turn to the center for vaccination. Hence municipal corporation will now take punitive action against the citizens above the age of 45 who roam in the market without vaccination.

Crowds were queuing at the municipal vaccination centers to get the corona vaccine. Back then, the administration had to face the wrath of the citizens as the supply of vaccines was insufficient. The central government has increased the interval between two doses of Covishield vaccine by 84 days. Hence the number of people over the age of 45 getting vaccinated has decreased. Although 1.5 lakh people in this age group have been vaccinated, another 3 lakh people are yet to be vaccinated. Municipal health officer Dr Nita Padalkar appealed to the citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible as there is a shortage of vaccines for them.

Punitive action against citizens

The market has been crowded for the last two days. If the crowd continues for a few more days, the infection is likely to increase again. Citizens roaming in the market without vaccination will be penalized, the municipal health department said.
