Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The officers and employees of the Technical Education Department are upset with the Finance Department of the State for the decision to stop earned leave encashment.
All officers and employees wore black badges as a protest at different Government Polytechnics of the State, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, on Wednesday.
They will hold a one-day symbolic dharna protest in front of the Directorate of Technical Education on March 23.
The office-bearers of the unions said that this is just a warning, and if the government does not immediately withdraw the decision, a strong statewide protest will be organised. They termed this decision as unjust, arbitrary and insensitive.

Employees get encashment of accumulated earned leave after their retirement since 1981.
A letter was issued by the Under Secretary of the Finance Department stating that leave encashment was not permissible for the Higher and Technical Education Department.
This should be implemented with effect from the issuance of the letter, but those who retire before the issuance of the letter were deprived of leave encashment.
