Conserving every drop of rainfall is essential to permanently resolve Marathwada’s water crisis, speakers said at a two-day national roundtable conference held at Mahatma Gandhi Mission University. Concluding the meet, MAGIC director Ashish Garde stressed the need for a focused development agenda for the region. Held under the theme ‘Reimagining the Future of Marathwada’, the conference aimed to draft a comprehensive vision document for the region’s holistic growth. The event was inaugurated by OBC welfare minister Atul Save, who said the government is addressing rural drinking water and irrigation issues through the Water Grid project. He noted that of the 7.5 lakh solar pumps installed in the state, 1.80 lakh are in Marathwada. Noted journalist P. Sainath and other experts participated in the deliberations. Garde highlighted the need to promote entrepreneurship, adding that collaboration between industry and government is vital to shape Marathwada’s future.
