Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Shinde Sena MP Dr Shrikant Shinde on Sunday said the Congress and Uddhav Sena would “pay the price” for opposing the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill in Parliament.

Speaking at Chikalthana airport en route to a programme in Sharanapur, he said women from across the country had reached New Delhi expecting the Bill aimed at enhancing political representation for women, who form nearly 50 per cent of the population, and increasing constituencies to be passed. He alleged that despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi introducing the Bill to ensure adequate representation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, the Opposition stalled it, and would face consequences. On criticism by Uddhav Sena leader Sanjay Raut against the Prime Minister, Dr Shinde said daily remarks did not merit response. He added that with India’s population at 130 crore and Maharashtra’s at 13 crore, increasing the number of Lok Sabha constituencies is essential for effective governance, a proposal he said was also opposed by the Opposition.
