Aurangabad, June 19:

The State Government started Covid vaccination campaign for people between 30 and 44 years age group.

A total of 2,080 youths were vaccinated on the first day in the city on Saturday.

There was a huge rush at nine centres. The vaccination was sent immediately to four centres when its stock was over.

The Central Government launched the vaccination drive on January 16.

Since then, a vaccination campaign was undertaken in the city for those who are above 45 years to bring Covid situation under control.

The State Government commenced the vaccination for the age group between 30 and 44.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation established ten centres immediately and started vaccination at 10 am. Since then, drive received a good response from youths, the stock at centres like Cidco N-8, ESIC was over by afternoon. The vaccines were sent to the centres immediately.

There were queues of youths at nine centres. Activists of a political party tried to create nuisance at some centres. They left the centres after they were pacified.

It will increase the number of centres for this age group from Monday.

Already, vaccines are being administered to those who are 45 years above the age at 63 centres. A total of 1449 people from the group were vaccinated.

Dr Neeta Padalkar said that number of vaccination centres would be increased from Monday considering the response from youths. The vaccination centres will remain closed on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a total of 779 persons between 30 to 44 years ag were vaccinated at eight centres in rural areas. The centre-wise figure of vaccinated persons is as follows; Manur 74, Amthana (99), Adul (130), Jikthan (Waluj)-149, Bazaar Sawngi (90), Aurala (47), Ladsaungi (85) and Karmad (105).
