Aurangabad, Nov 1:

Shivsena and BJP alliance at Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in 2015 showered the rain of several assurances on the people. However, both the parties have forgotten about the commitments now. The alliance assured the people to provide adequate water to the city through a parallel pipeline project, waste management and roads.

The ambitious parallel pipeline project has not yet been initiated even after five years. The assurances given during the elections remain only on the agendas now.

The parallel pipeline project was proposed from the past 14 years. The cost of the projects has exceeded from Rs 750 crores to Rs 1680 crores now. More than 200 localities in the city are facing severe water scarcity. The city is getting water only twice a week. The project remains only on the papers even today.

Similarly, two and a half years back, the Rs 147 crores were sanctioned for the city for the solid waste management. Rs 80 crores have been received by the corporation so far. Barring Chikalthana and Padegaon, the AMC the other waste management projects are still not operated.

Former mayor, Nandkumar Ghodele said, Shiv Sena, is fulfilling all the assurances. The city transport service has been started. The road works are in progress. Two waste management projects are active. The city is heading towards the smart city, he said.

AIMIM group leader, Naser Siddique, said, AIMIM worked as a strong opposition party at AMC for the past five years. The Muslim – Dalit populated areas have always been neglected and no amenities were provided here. Our corporators always raised this issue and were also suspended on several occasions. The city has not attained development in the past five years, he said.
