Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: With changing lifestyles, increasing stress, rising consumption of fast food and lack of exercise, the cases of Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) among women are growing rapidly.

Taking note of this situation, the District Hospital has taken a significant step for women's health by launching a 'PCOD Clinic'.

Dr Dayanand Motipawale (Assistant Director, the Public Health Department) inaugurated the Clinic at the District Hospital on Wednesday. This is an important initiative for women's health. Additional District Surgeon Dr Padmaja Saraf, Dr Prashant Bade, Dr Lata Wedekar, Dr Aparna Dikondwar, Dr Kiran Chavan, Shubhangi Thorat and others were present.

Patient Services Every Wednesday

The PCOD-related examination, counselling and treatment services will be available at the District Hospital as well as Vaijapur Sub-District Hospital, a single place every Wednesday, which will be of great help to women in getting a timely diagnosis and proper treatment.

Dr Motipawale said that women should remain health-conscious and that early diagnosis and treatment of conditions like PCOD is essential.

Causes of disease

This clinic will prove significant for women's hormonal and reproductive health, providing patients with examination, counselling, treatment and dietary guidance all under one roof. It was informed that the rise in cases of the disease is attributed to changing lifestyles, stress, improper diet and lack of exercise.

It can cause irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain, skin problems and difficulties in conception. Experts stated that if diagnosed and treated in time, this condition can be kept under control.
