Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Mahatma Phule and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar presented their thoughts that the issue of women is not limited to them alone but is a question of the entire system of caste, religion and State. This has made the right perspective to look at women's issues widespread,” said Dr Vandana Mahajan, a renowned scholar and a professor from the Marathi Department of the University of Mumbai.

She was speaking in a lecture organised on ‘Phule-Ambedkar Thoughts and Women’s Issues’ on Monday by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University as part of Dr Ambedkar’s Jayanti celebration.

Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari presided over the function. Dr Ambedkar Jayanti Committee chairman Pro-VC Dr Walmik Sarwade, Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, Management Council Member Kashinath Deodhar and Student Development Director Dr Kailash Ambhure were seated on the dais.

Dr Vandana Mahajan said Marathwada was Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's dream city. “That is why he opened the doors of education for Bahujans by establishing Milind College. Nagsenvan became a workshop that produced activists. Despite being the land of his thoughts, it took 16 years for the name extension,” she said.
