Pneumococcal vaccination campaign inaugurated

Aurangabad, July 15:

Pneumococcal vaccination and special diarrhoea control fortnight campaign was inaugurated on Thursday at Daulatabad primary health centre by Zilla Parishad health and education committee chairman Avinash Patil Galande. The pneumococcal vaccine which used to cost Rs 2,500 is now available for free, said Galande.

District health officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke, ZP member Kaleem Kadon, Dr Abhay Dhanorkar, Dr Prashant Date. Dr Sangram Bamne were present. The first dose will be given to a one and a half month old baby in this vaccination campaign. The second dose will be given after three and a half months and third dose will be given after nine months. The Asha and health workers will distribute alkaline and zinc tablets through door to door visits, informed Dr Shelke.
